Western Europe New Passenger Vehicle Registrations

Key findings include:

  • German passenger car registrations declined to approximately 289,300 units in June, 32.3% lower than June 2009
  • UK new car registrations increased despite the end of the scrappage scheme; fleet sales helped to sustain the growth
  • Italian new registrations fell sharply in June 2010, dropping 18.5% to 172,500 units
  • French new car market increased 240,531 units or approximately 2.3%; the market is still being affected by government and dealer incentives
  • The scrappage scheme and the upcoming VAT increase have helped to support the Spanish car market, which increased 25.8% in June
